The Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS) was introduced by the Government of India in 1950 to ensure a steady flow of skilled workers in different trades for the industry. The scheme is implemented through Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), which are run by the government or private entities and overseen by the Directorate General of Training (DGT), Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
The CTS focuses on skill-based training in engineering and non-engineering trades. It helps in enhancing the employability of youth by equipping them with hands-on training and theoretical knowledge.
